Feminine Leadership Foundations
“The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door. If you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.” ~ Clarissa Pinkola Estes
As a young woman, you may have believed that the world was your oyster. And so it may have seemed for some years. You worked hard, intending to claim your place in the world. And you did.
But then, cracks started to appear in the perfect dream you mapped out for yourself. Maybe you burned out. Or your body complained about your lifestyle in another way, through illness. Maybe the knight in shining armour never showed up. Or when he did, the relationship didn’t match your expectations – and didn’t last. Maybe you tried to ‘have it all’ before you realized that there were only so many hours in the day……and really, you yearned for a more simple life and a way of being that requires less effort.
There’s little cultural support for anyone who turns against the tide of the mainstream. Women of all ages are exposed to a daily bombardment of messages about how a successful woman should look and be. Meanwhile, you are questioning the terms and conditions of success….
How do you want to live your life? What will you stand for? What are your deepest desires? What does Feminine leadership look like?
The tiger symbolises Feminine power in several Eastern traditions. It’s a potent symbol for women as it challenges the stereotype of the Feminine as being accommodating, sacrificing and domesticated. Of course, women have been fighting against such limited definition for decades. Nevertheless, clear, clean and non manipulative expressions of Feminine power are rarely demonstrated.
The suppressed anger at the centre of the Feminine Wound is often expressed as chronic sadness, depression or, when it can no longer be contained, in explosive/destructive ways.
It makes sense to understand what the tiger can teach us. It makes sense to explore a model of power, based on teachings from the Feminine tantric traditions, which can provide a solid foundation for next level leadership, while accelerating your spiritual growth.
Feminine Leadership Foundations
There are two options:
- One to one mini retreats
- Five module online course
Individually tailored, day long, in person ‘mini retreats’ are available for private work. If you’ve read my about page, met me at an event or been referred by someone I know and think I might be the teacher for you, please drop me a line with brief details about yourself and what you are looking for. We’ll set up a time to chat, work out what is needed and whether I can help.
You might also like to book a day with me if you are considering a longer one to one coaching programme but, not quite ready and yet, in need of guidance and support now. My aim is to provide inspiration, clarity, tools, a peaceful container for contemplation and connection to a living stream of practices.
These days can include personal coaching, chi kung and guided meditation processes. They can take place at an agreed venue, at your home or out in nature (weather permitting.) My geographical location is Farnham, Surrey, UK – within one hour from London.
Follow your deep knowing to the source of Feminine power. Find the doorways to the wild (and wise) self through deepening relationship with the five elements – Space, Earth, Water, Air and Fire.
This highly restorative energy work puts you in touch with the wisdom, power and passion of the Feminine.
1. Know your Home Base
Know who you are and experience the homecoming you yearn for.
I’m not speaking of the particularities of your familial and cultural upbringing. I’m speaking of what we all share.
What is the origin of the fundamental desires that we all experience – to come home to ourselves, to be enfolded by love, to find a beloved?
This homecoming is a very special initiation, through a guided process. Your success. Your purpose. The clarity of your callings. And your ability to transform your wounds, from pain to gifts, depends on this.
2. Attend to your Foundations
The strength of unseen foundations is what makes a building durable and safe. Yet, in our own lives we often do not undertake fundamental repairs, preferring to attend to what is seen ‘above ground’. (Or, to seeking the vista from the Penthouse!)
Feeling grounded, stable and secure is threatened by experiences where you have felt that ‘the rug has been pulled from under your feet.’
Fundamental insecurity and instability lies at the root of pride, arrogance, superiority, material accumulation/hoarding and also opposite energies, such as impoverishment, self deprecation/inferiority, denial of needs and lack of care for self and possessions.
You will be introduced to practices that bring you the restorative wisdom and nectar of the Earth element, generating more safety, equanimity, self care and generosity of heart and mind.
3. Consider your Defenses
Authentic vulnerability, the ability to self disclose with comfort, is not supported or developed in environments where there is fear of violation and invalidation.
Fearing and feeling threat, defensive strategies form a protective shell, while resentments and anger may fester below the surface.
As you restore the nectar and wisdom of the Water element, you will access and improve the ability to remain calm and non reactive, while stating personal truth.
4. Trust your Intuition
Effortless action, self confidence and accomplishment can be inhibited by worry, anxieties and neuroses.
The mind becomes caught in self-criticism, judgment and self doubt. We often try to reject these parts of ourselves. Yet, energies cannot be ‘got rid of’. But, they can be transformed.
As you restore the nectar and wisdom of the Air element, you learn what can be trusted. As confidence in inner knowing and received insight increases, you are less affected by the opinions of others that throw you off centre.
5. Engage afresh in Relationships
Consistent deprivation of genuine and mutually supportive personal and working relationships results in burnout.
The wounds of past abandonments and betrayals may have numbed the ability to relate. Or, we may find ourselves in repeated experiences with people who are abusive in one way or another.
Clear boundaries, respectful interest, compassion and discernment are restored through transformation available through working with the Fire element, which strengthens the ground for the creation of mutually supportive, life enhancing relationships.
